How far will people go for design? Or more to the point, who far will they not go? If this simple design for a lamp was made available for free, would anyone take advanatge and make one at material cost only? What if it was designed by a performer-designer like Phillippe Starck or Marc Newson - and it was still free? Would consumers decide to buy a ready-made version for fifty times the cost of one they could take satisfaction from making and customising themselves?
